Somersham Youth Orange 2
Under 10's Blacks 4

On a warm sunday morning the Blues took on the Oranges for their last league game of the season. After a big welcome onto the pitch by a big somersham crowd it was then down to the boys to give them a game to remember .And they didn't disappoint. The first 15 saw a strong Orange side stamp their authority on the game with great work rate throughout the team .The Blues found it difficult to get their passing game together but had 2 or 3 good chances but Liam T was well marshalled by Freddie in the Orange defence.Midway through the 15 the Oranges broke forward and Jordan finished well shooting past Josh M in the Blues goal. The Blues then made a double change bringing on Ryan and Curtis for Liam P and liam T .The period carried on in the same vein with the Blues not penetrating a water tight Orange backline. The second period saw Josh H on for Jacob also Adam came off with Liam P returning. The Blues then started to win a few more balls in midfield with Curtis and Liam P Competing well but Ryan upfront was unable to get a clear cut chance. With 5 minutes to go in the period Liam T came back on for Ryan and Adam came on for Liam P who got a kick on his ankle. With time running out the Blues managed an attack when Adam shot at goal ,Jack saved well but couldn't hold it and Liam T was on hand to score a good poachers goal and put the Blues on level terms 1-1.The next 7.5 minutes saw Jacob on for Josh H ,Ryan,Curtis ,Liam P also came back on .The game still was a tight affair with both sides defending, tackling and clearing any danger. With the period looking as it was going to end goaless the Oranges came forward with Charlie runnng onto a through ball and scoring to put his side 2-1 up with 7.5 to play.Right from the start of the last period Josh M saved a shot from Sam and cleared with a long overarm throw which came off a defenders head into the path of Liam T who controlled the ball before smacking it on the volley into the net .So at 2-2 the Blues were again back in the game and it seemed to lift the team, they started to get on top with Adam and Liam P getting on the ball more and getting the ball in the opponents penalty box.Another clearance this time from Josh H found its way in the Orange area, Liam T with his confidence now high nipped in just before the keeper and poked the ball home to put the Blues ahead for the first time in the game. The next few minutes saw the Oranges come forward but got caught on the break with Liam T advancing over half way before shooting from outside the box to score his and his sides fourth goal. With 2 minutes to go Liam T came off and Jacod went upfront. The Oranges didn't give up and with the game drawing to a close Mathew shot against the Blues crossbar .The final whistle blew and the Blues recorded their ninth league win but for long periods struggled against a determined Orange side who had a game plan to close down quickley and hit on the break. The difference in the end was in the last 7.5 the Blues managed to create and then score the three chances they made. Both sides performed well, the Oranges had Freddie who covered the back line and cleared any danger especially in the first half hour and behind him Jack who has improved his goalkeeping skills with every game. The Blues never gave up even when going behind twice ,and had Liam T in the final period to score those 3 vital goals.
