After several weeks without a game the Oranges understandably took their time into getting into their stride. The opening saw early pressure from Bluntisham which the home defence dealt with comfortably. After 8 minutes a good long kick from Freddie put Sam through, his shot just going wide. A minute later we took the lead with a routine straight from our Wednesday night training sessions (BIG UP JOSE !).Matthew took a quick and accurate throw from the left to put Charlie through and his shot was dispatched neatly in at the nearpost corner. Two minutes later the lead was doubled when Jack carried the ball out of defence all the way down the left wing and his cross found its way to Sam who finished emphatically. Bluntisham pulled a goal back and would have been level in the final minute had Freddie not come out of his goal quickly and saved well at the feet of an attacker. The second period started in the same way the first had ended with Freddie diving on the ball bravely. With 18 minutes on the clock the two goal lead was re-established when Jordan carried the ball in to the area and a defender unluckly pushed the ball past his keeper in to the net.It only took a further 2 minutes for us to make it 4 v 1 when Charlie shot from distance and the ball crept in to the net. Our lead was further extended after 24 minutes when Jordan scored his first from close range. At this stage we were cruising and the game seemed to be over, however Bluntisham had other ideas and pulled a goal back almost immediately. A great tackle from Tristan and then another brave save from Freddie kept the opposition at bay until with a minute left on the clock Bluntisham reduced the deficit to 2 goals. However with seconds remaining in the period a great long throw out from Freddie put Jordan through and he carried the ball into the opponents penalty area and finished expertly with the outside of his boot.A very exciting second fifteen minutes finished with the score 6 v 3. Two minutes in to the last fifteen and Bluntisham came back in to the game again when they made it 6 v 4. After 34 minutes Freddie came off his line to clear well.A minute later Matthew was unlucky to see a good shot go just wide. After being 4 goals ahead earlier in the game with only seconds to go before the final period turn around there was only one goal in it when Bluntisham made it 6 v 5. With 39 minutes on the clock Jack again burst forward from his own box up to the oppositions a Bluntisham defender making a tackle just as he was about to shoot, the ball was played forward and with no cover at the back a Bluntisham attacker looked to be clean through, however Jack ran back the full length of the field (albeit a very short one)to block the shot. A minute later the lead was again 2 goals when another excellent throw from Freddie found Charlie who completed his hat-trick with another fantastic long range effort. The victory was finally assured when Jordan completed his own hat-trick with another brilliantly taken goal.A very entertaining game with lots of action, some great goals, lots of hard work and effort and three important points well earnt.
