The match started in contrasting fashion to the previous game at Bluntisham. For the first 2 minutes we withheld intense preesure in and around our penalty area with Jack making 3 important tackles.Relief came when Matthew got hold of the ball, took it forward and released Charlie with an excellent long pass,Charlie's shot went just wide.Tristan was getting through some good work in midfield, tackling and harrassing the opposition. With 5 mins gone the ball fell to the feet of an attacker inside our penalty area,he looked certain to score until Jack made a superb sliding tackle to deny him.Matthew and Tristan continued to frustrate the Ramsey midfield and Charlie was taking up some good positions upfront. After 9 mins though a loose ball was picked up by a Ramsey forward, his shot hit the post although Sam looked as if he would have got a hand to it had it been inside. From Sam's long throw out Charlie ran forward, from a long way out he fired the ball towards the Ramsey goal, the keeper fumbled and the ball ran over the line for 1-0.Excellent defending from the whole of the team kept the score the same until the whistle for the end of the period.Freddie and Jordan came on for the next quarter,Jordan immediately finding himself free with the ball inside the area just to the left of goal, he set himself nicely but his strong shot hit the side netting. With 24 mins gone Charlie had another good shot saved by the keeper. However 2 mins later it was 2-0,Matthew controlled the ball expertly on the edge of the box and his exquisitely placed shot nestled in the corner of the net.The period ended with a neat back pass from Freddie to Sam who cleared forward. It was a comfotable period for the Oranges with Freddie taking no prisoners at the back and Matthew and Jordan containing the midfield. For the final period Jack came back on in goal with Sam on pitch. One minute in Charlie had a great shot deflected for a corner.33 mins gone Sam made a brilliant pass forward to Charlie whose superb shot agonisingly hit the post.38 mins on the clock an attacker sliced through our defence,Jack dived at his feet at the vital moment to deny him. However with 6 mins remaining Ramsey won a throw in deep into our half,it fell to the feet of an unmarked attacker 6 yards out and his blistering shot found the top corner for 2-1.A minute later the 2 goal lead was nearly restored when Sam set himself nicely and sent in a wonderful shot well saved by the keeper. With 4 minutes to go our hearts were in our mouths, an attacker found himself free in the area and fired in a good shot on goal, Jack making an excellent save low down to his right.60 seconds later Sam burst forward, his shot went just wide.Freddie made a vital clearance with 2 mins to go,the last defensive duty of the game. The last 2 mins spent in the Ramsey half, Matthew dribbling down the right wing and crossing superbly, the clearance falling to Jordan whose wonderful effort was well saved by the Ramsey keeper.A well deserved victory, 2-1.
